Making a missed check-in plan

Using Snug is a great way to feel secure every day, and making sure your emergency contacts have all the information they need is another key part of your peace of mind. Take a few minutes to review and share your Missed Check-in Plan to make sure your emergency contacts know what to do if you miss a check-in.

What to Expect from Snug if You Miss a Check-in

Include these details in your Missed Check-in Plan to ensure your emergency contacts know how they'll be notified.

Free Plan Users:

  • 10 minutes after your missed check-in, Snug will send a text message to each of your emergency contacts, letting them know you missed your check-in.
  • It’s up to them to reach out and check on you.

Dispatch Plan Users:

  • 10 minutes after your missed check-in, a Snug dispatcher will call your phone to make sure it isn't a false alarm.
  • If you don’t answer, they’ll call your emergency contacts one by one.
  • If no one can confirm you’re safe, a wellness check will be requested at your last known location.

Guide Your Emergency Contacts with a Simple Plan

Think of your plan like a map – it doesn't need to list every detail, it just needs to point your emergency contacts in the right direction. Keep it simple and focused on the most critical information:

  • What they should do first – Should they call your cell phone? A landline? Another contact?
  • Who they should coordinate with – Provide names and contact info of your other emergency contacts, or additional support members in your community, like neighbors.
  • How they can access your home – Smart lock code, gate code, hide-a-key location, or any other access instructions.
  • Medical details – key health concerns emergency responders should be aware of, list of important medications or instructions on where to find them, and your primary care physician's contact information
  • Pet care info – Where to find details on caring for your pets.
  • Important documents – Where to find essential paperwork like a will or advance directives.

By keeping this plan concise and easy to follow, your emergency contacts will have what they need without being overwhelmed.

Ensure Your Plan is Accessible When It Matters Most

Make sure your emergency contacts can easily find your plan when needed. Here are some simple ways to share it:

  • Print or write out copies for all of your emergency contacts, and ask them to keep it in a safe place.
  • Send it in an email titled "Snug Missed Check-In Plan" (Important – if you send your plan in an email, make sure it doesn't include any sensitive information!)
