Add, remove, or reorder emergency contacts
Emergency contacts are the people Snug notifies if you miss a check-in. Before adding someone, ask whether they are willing to help. If you need help deciding whom to ask, see Choose your emergency contacts.
Emergency-contact requirements
- If you're using the Free Plan, your emergency contacts must have a mobile phone that can receive SMS messages
- If you're using the Dispatch Plan, you can add your own landline or another person's landline as an emergency contact and backup number
If you're using the Dispatch Plan, dispatchers will call your emergency contacts in the order shown in the Snug app.
Want to test Snug first?
Add yourself as an emergency contact to put Snug into test mode. Snug will send the emergency-contact notifications to you instead of another person.
Add an emergency contact
- Open the Snug app
- Open Menu in the upper-left corner
- Select Change emergency contacts
- Choose Add from contacts or Add manually
Add from contacts
- Select Add from contacts
- Select or search for the person's name in your phone's Contacts app
- Select the phone number you want Snug to use
- Select Done
Add manually
- Select Add manually
- Enter the person's name
- Enter the phone number you want Snug to use
- Select Done
After you select Done, Snug sends the new contact a text message similar to:
“Annie selected you as their emergency contact on Snug, a daily check-in app. Confirm here: ps.snugsafety.com/xxxxx”
Remove an emergency contact
- Open Menu
- Select Change emergency contacts
- Select the red trash icon beside the contact you want to remove
- Select Done
Before removing a contact from a Free Plan account, make sure at least one other emergency contact will remain.
Reorder emergency contacts
Contacts cannot be dragged into a new order. To change the order:
- Remove the contacts that need to move
- Add them again in the order you want them displayed
For Dispatch Plan customers, the displayed order is the order dispatchers use when calling emergency contacts.
