Make Snug alerts sound when your phone is silent

Your phone may silence Snug alerts when Silent Mode, Focus, or Do Not Disturb is on. You can change your phone settings so you are less likely to miss a reminder, missed-check-in alert, or Dispatch call.

Before you continue: These settings allow Snug to interrupt your phone's quiet or silent settings. Snug alerts may make a sound when other calls or messages remain quiet.

Save the Snug phone numbers

Create one contact named Snug and add the numbers that apply to you:

• +1 (844) 243-9110 — Snug SMS reminders, alerts, and phone check-ins
• +1 (801) 781-6101 — Dispatch calls
• +1 (877) 206-9141 — Dispatch calls

Free Plan customers only need the first number. Dispatch Plan customers and their emergency contacts should save all three numbers.

If you use an iPhone

Apple's Emergency Bypass setting allows calls or text messages from a saved contact to make a sound even when your iPhone is silent or a Focus is on.

Allow Snug text messages to make a sound

1. Open the iPhone Contacts app
2. Select the Snug contact
3. Select Edit
4. Select Text Tone
5. Turn on Emergency Bypass
6. Choose the text tone you want to hear
7. Select Done, then select Done again to save the contact

Allow Dispatch calls to ring

If you use the Dispatch Plan or are an emergency contact for a Dispatch customer:

1. Open the Snug contact and select Edit
2. Select Ringtone
3. Turn on Emergency Bypass
4. Choose the ringtone you want to hear
5. Select Done, then select Done again to save the contact

If you want a custom sound but do not want Snug to override Silent Mode or Focus, choose a tone but leave Emergency Bypass off.

If you use Android

Android can allow selected apps, calls, and messages to interrupt Do Not Disturb. Because Android settings vary by phone model and operating-system version, the names and locations of these options may differ on your phone.

Allow notifications from the Snug app

1. Open your phone's Settings app
2. Open Modes or Do Not Disturb
3. Open the notification filters or exceptions
4. Under Apps, allow Snug to send notifications while Do Not Disturb is on

If your phone does not show these options, open Settings, select Apps, select Snug, and check whether its notification settings include Override Do Not Disturb, Allow interruptions, or a similar option.

Allow Snug calls and text messages

Then open your phone's Do Not Disturb settings and review the People, Calls, Messages, or Conversations exceptions. Allow the Snug contact or conversation to interrupt Do Not Disturb if your phone provides that option.

Some phones only allow calls or messages from favorite or starred contacts. If so, mark the Snug contact as a favorite and allow favorite contacts through Do Not Disturb.

Test your settings

1. Turn on Do Not Disturb
2. Open the Snug app
3. Open Menu in the upper-left corner
4. Select Settings
5. Send a test notification
