Check Snug permissions and send a test notification

Snug's Settings screen shows whether notification and location permissions are configured correctly. It also provides direct links to your phone's settings and lets you send a test notification.

Open Snug settings

1. Open the Snug app
2. Open Menu in the upper-left corner
3. Select Settings
4. Review the notification and location indicators

If a setting needs attention, use the button in Snug to open the corresponding settings on your phone.

Recommended location settings

Snug uses your most recent location after a missed check-in when that information is available.

iPhone

Set Snug's location access to:

• Always
• Precise Location on

Android

Set Snug's location access to:

• Allow all the time
• Use precise location on, if your Android version displays this option

Android wording may vary slightly by phone and operating-system version.

Send a test notification

From Snug's Settings screen, select the option to send a test notification.

If the test arrives, Snug has permission to send notifications. If it does not arrive, follow Fix missing check-in reminders or notifications.

Why these settings matter

• Notifications remind you to check in and help prevent false alarms
• Background and precise location access help Snug save a useful recent location if you miss a check-in

Snug attempts to update your location approximately every four hours, when you check in, and after a missed check-in. Learn more in How Snug uses and protects your location.
