Fix missing check-in reminders or notifications
If you are not receiving Snug check-in reminders, work through these steps before your next check-in deadline.
Snug sends push notifications before and around your check-in time. It also sends SMS reminders from +1 (844) 243-9110 at and shortly after your deadline. See What happens if you miss a check-in? for the complete reminder schedule.
1. Check Snug's Settings screen
- Open the Snug app
- Open Menu in the upper-left corner
- Select Settings
- Review whether notification permissions are configured correctly
- Send a test notification
If the test notification does not arrive, continue with the steps below.
2. Allow notifications in your phone settings
From Snug's Settings screen, use the button that opens your phone's app settings. Confirm that notifications are allowed for Snug.
- iPhone users: Make sure Allow Notifications is turned on, notification sounds are enabled, and Snug is not included in Scheduled Summary. See Apple's change notification settings guide
- Android users: Make sure Snug notifications are allowed, its notification categories are enabled and set to Alerting, and notifications can appear on the Lock Screen. See Google's control notifications guide
3. Check Focus, Do Not Disturb, and sound settings
Focus, Do Not Disturb, Silent Mode, or muted notification settings may prevent you from hearing an alert even when it arrives.
- Temporarily turn off Focus or Do Not Disturb and send another test notification
- iPhone users: See Apple's allow or silence notifications for a Focus guide
- Android users: See Google's manage Modes and Do Not Disturb guide
- Confirm that notification sounds are enabled and the volume is audible
- See Make Snug alerts sound when your phone is silent for iPhone and Android instructions
4. Check power and background settings
Low Power Mode, battery optimization, or disabled background activity can interfere with timely notifications.
- Turn off Low Power Mode or Battery Saver temporarily
- iPhone users: See Apple's use Low Power Mode guide
- Android users: See Google's manage battery settings guide
- Allow Snug to run in the background
- On iPhone, make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for Snug
- On Android, remove battery restrictions for Snug if your phone provides that option
5. Open Snug and check your connection
- Make sure your phone has Wi-Fi or cellular data
- Open Snug and confirm you are still signed in
- If you force-closed Snug, reopen it
- Send another test notification from Settings
