Set up your Snug account

After you download and install Snug, open the app and follow these steps.

Start a new account

On the welcome screen, select I'm a new user.

If you already had a Snug account or someone created one for you, select I've used Snug before instead. Enter the mobile phone number associated with the account and the verification code Snug sends by text message.

Choose the option that matches whether a Snug account already exists for your phone number.

Choose your check-in time

Choose the time by which you want to check in each day. Available check-in times are between 5:30 AM and 9:30 PM.

Choose a time that fits your regular routine. You can check in any time after midnight and before your deadline. You can change your check-in time or add multiple daily check-in times later.

Scroll to your preferred daily deadline, then select Next Step.

Enter your account information

Enter your:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • U.S. mobile phone number

All four are required. Snug uses your name in messages about your account, your email address for account and support communication, and your mobile number to verify your account and send reminders.

Enter the verification code Snug sends to your mobile number by text message.

Add emergency contacts

Choose one to three people you trust to respond if you miss a check-in.

  • Select Add from contacts to choose someone from your phone's Contacts app
  • Select Add manually to enter a person's name and mobile phone number
  • Select Use my number if you want to try Snug in test mode before involving someone else

In test mode, emergency-contact alerts are sent to your own number. Add another emergency contact when you are ready for someone else to receive alerts.

Before you continue, Snug confirms that it will send each selected contact a welcome text from (844) 243-9110. Talk with each person before adding them so they know what Snug is and what you want them to do after an alert. If you would like help deciding whom to ask or starting that conversation, see Choose your emergency contacts.

Allow notifications

Snug uses notifications to remind you to check in, making them important for avoiding missed check-ins and false alarms.

Select Grant Notification Access, then allow notifications when your phone asks.

Allow location access

Allow Snug to access your location. Location helps Snug:

  • Include your last-known location in a missed-check-in response when it is available
  • Keep your check-in time aligned with your current time zone when you travel

You can finish setup and check in without location access, but Snug may not be able to provide your location after a missed check-in. A card on the Snug home screen will remind you to enable it.

Select Continue, then allow location access while using Snug.

Choose your plan

Choose the Free Plan or a monthly or annual Dispatch Plan subscription.

The Free Plan alerts your emergency contacts by text message after a missed check-in. The Dispatch Plan adds professional follow-up from a Snug dispatcher and supports up to three daily check-in times.

See Compare Snug plans and pricing for current prices and features.

If you choose the Dispatch Plan, complete payment and add your home address. Dispatch uses this address as a fallback when your current device location is unavailable.

Finish setup

You may answer the optional How did you hear about Snug? question or skip it. When setup is complete, Snug opens the home screen so you can check in for the day.
